CRUEL

About a week ago, a bitch and its 2 puppies suddenly appear in my compound. The "mother" is beige, 1 is black and white and the other is all brown with a black nose. They will be lounging around my porch and whenever I reaches home, they will just leave and when I enter the house, they will come back and as usual they will sleep under the car.

I had this notion that they might be shitting everywhere and pissing at my tyres. To my amazement, there was none of it.I have been accustomed to their presence now and they to me. Well at least they make some noise if ever there are any movement or anything in the compound. I do not feed them anything but I do not know why my porch had become their resting place.

Late last night, after midnight, I heard a diesel engined vehicle stopped in front of my house. Could have been the neighbours guest I suppose. Suddenly a loud bang was heard. Next is the sound of a whimpering dog. Man, could that be a gunshot? I was scared. Gather my guts, went out to the hall. Can't see much through the tinted glass door, except for the vehicles brake light. Open the door, BANG. I could see the flash of light thru the guns barrel. This guy was right in front of my house and shooting at something but definitely not aiming it towards my house. My neighbour, Pak Sheikh, an ex OCPD was outside, watching. Ask him what its all about, and he answered they were shooting at stray dogs.

None of my doggie "friends" were around at the time. Felt sad and a lot of anger flooded my mind. Its inhumane isn't it? Isn't there a better way or less cruel way of doing this? It's a living thing...guys. It breathe, drink and eat just like us. Shit..I hate those guys for doing this kind of work. Don't they have any feelings?

Could not sleep till 5am after that...ITS CRUEL....

Woke up this morning about 8am and open the door, the black n white puppy is alone under my car...

JAZZ WHO?

Oh man..Penang is so cool now with all the jazz festivals and what not. Free somemore!! Next question they'll ask is , Got makan also aaa? Hahahaha..just joking guys. That Q, would come out from one of my friends actually.... Always want free one..how can...

Yeah I have been to the New World Park. It is cool. They have free aerobics lesson there too on certain days. Lots of food stalls to gobble. A few "in Place" too. Should check it out.

This jazz ensemble has got nothing to do with the new govt lah. Maybe has got to do with Wilson..hahaha. The Jazz man with the kow kow accent.

What is jazz?

According Wynton Marsalis jazz is music that swings. According to Pat Metheny jazz is not the music of Kenny G. According to Webster's jazz is characterized by propulsive syncopated rhythms, polyphonic ensemble playing, varying degrees of improvisation, and often deliberate distortions of pitch and timbre. Personally, I prefer the definition found in the old musician's joke about jazz being “better than sex, and it lasts longer.”

FREE JAZZ FEST!

Jazz aficionados would by now be aware of the annual Penang Island Jazz Festival that has been staged since 2004. Well, this year, perhaps, because of the change in government, we are going to get a bonus! Come 30th April, 2008, there shall be a mini jazz festival at the New World Park along Burmah Road, Penang.

The event starts at 6.00 pm with performances by Penang based jazz outfits, each one performing for about forty-five minutes. The featured artistes are the following : -

Sunny Side Up
Areca Jazz Ensemble
Q Jazz Collective
Northern Jazz Ensemble
Jeep Latino Jazz Band

The audience can expect styles ranging from Swing, Be-bop, Hard Bob, Fusion and Latin-Jazz in the repertoire. There will also be vocals featuring Dasha Logan and in all probabilities, Mohd. Razif aka Jeep. Entry to the event is free!

For the those alien to Penang, New World Park is now an “in-place”! It is now a complex of sorts, with theme restaurants, shops, a food court featuring indigenous Penang hawker food! The most famous, of course, is the Ice Kacang with fruit toppings!

So, jazz lovers, and generally, those who appreciate good music, wherever you may be in Malaysia, if you do have the time, do come to Penang and savour our local delights and, at the same time enjoy the music.

Groove to the beat and get fat!

SWALK

Ooohhh...Got the gastric attack this few days..Thats why I was kinda cool down on the blog. Well today after all the medication follows the burping and farting but still with a lil bit of pain in the tummy, I guess I'm okay now.

So just thought of updating the playlist for you guys by giving you some Bee Gees, Jacksons, Osmonds and Pink Floyd. Hope you guys enjoy. Listening to the Bee Gees brings back the SWALK movie to my mind. Can you guys still recall those years? For the guys who has witness the flower people era, I mean.

So, I posted a clip from the movie on your right. Check it out. How I wish we could just turn back the time and visit that era again...

Remember those times when there are two mediums in school. The English medium and the Malay medium. English medium schools are considered the in thing then. From a malay or chinese school you have to go through remove classes and all that to get to form 1? The common school which has all ethnic at that time were the English schools. Everyone was mingling around like nobody's business.

I had the chance of going through an English Medium School from Standard 1 till Form 5. Everything was in English except Bahasa Malaysia.

Those were times when you have to wear short pants to school till form 3. Long Pants comes in only when you cleared your LCE.

The mornings, was cold. I need to wear sweaters to school. Now...Its hot hot hot...

Hahahahaa..C u guys later...

Follow-up to "Bank Negara-Skeletons in the closet?"

Yesterday I highlighted the article "Malaysia's Exim Bank" from "Asia Sentinel". Well, Raja Petra Kamarudin has responded with an article called "Spin machine spinning out of control". Do read the article to get a better insight of the case.

Remorse or Scheming?

Has the Bar Council been manipulated or coerced into hosting this dinner? That judicial reforms shall be unveiled at the dinner was a known fact. In spite of this, the Bar Council, Malaysia, has not seen fit to invite the Bench? Unbelievable! How could elementary protocol like this be ignored? It would be unbecoming of the Bar Council, Malaysia, to plead ”oversight” for this omission, which appears premeditated.

It really beats me to see certain quarters getting all excited about the event. How justice has been served with the announcement of financial compensations to the victims of the l988 Judicial Crisis and recognition of their exemplary contributions, may sound very good, but how sincere is the effort? A planned event, where one of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the JAC, the Bench was snubbed! Why do I hear a very loud “We don’t want Judges here!”

The big question here is who is “we”. Is it the Bar Council, Malaysia? Or is it the government of the day, since they are the paymasters? If it was the government, then how on earth could the Bar Council, Malaysia, allow themselves to participate in this neat hoax? Why walk for justice?

WE ARE THE WORLD

Yabbadabadoo says,

Dear Bangsa Malaysia, all good things have to come to an end....the best romance, the best movie, the best football game & often, the best of friendships!! Talking about not being able to "get close" to the other races, I feel we have to look beyond ourselves. We tend to look for "similar" looks, behaviour, likes
& dislikes when we look to hook up to someone new (when lust doesn't blind us...hahaha!)& language, culture & the many years of brain-washing by our family/environment play an important role in determining whom we "click" with.
I must say "Kudos" to Yasmin Ahmad who has so subtly crossed the borders with her poignant & realistic movies.....can you deny the genuine "feel" of the movies, don't we understand what she is telling us through her movies? There is no hidden message, all is clear for any level-headed person to see.....united we stand! Malaysians, make her dream our reality! God Bless our sister Yasmin who deserves all our respect
for being brave enough to give us a glimpse of what Muhibbah is really all about.

April 22, 2008 8:42 PM

I fully agreed with what you say about the brain washing that we had from our family and our environment. Yes we do have to look within ourselves, but are we so blind not being able to see what its all about?

The looks, likes , dislikes and culture are true but if for one second, you just chuck away the thought that his/her colour is different, but that guy is just another human like you, breath the same air that you breath and needs all the necessities like you do to keep on living, so whats the probs man?

We are the world, we are the children. Michael Jackson says... We are the ones who make a brighter day so lets start giving....

FRIENDS...

Yabadabadoo said:

Hello, Bangsa Malaysia, I must agree that Penang food IS THE BEST!! I must add that Penangites also want the best of both worlds (for the price of one) eg.laksa with both types of soup - lemak (Siamese) with the assam one in one bowl; a bowl of hokkien mee with the normal soup mixed with the sticky("lor")mixture. Haggling for discounts is in the blood of every true-blue Penangite. THUMBS UP TO THE ONE & ONLY FOOD HAVEN.....thanks for the refreshing new addition to your playlist.

Yaba has answered it well. I'm not mistaken with my vision of how a Penangite is. Anyways yeah..no food can beat Penang Food.

Food is like music actually. Universal. Anyone can enjoy food. Go to a nasi kandar shop, you get to see all races enjoying the food. But....there will always be this grouping of Malys who will flock together, Chinese will flock togather and Indians will flock together. You very seldom see a mixture of races enjoying the same lunch together unless its official business. That shows that we don't really mingle with our Malaysian friends.

One reason for not being able to be close is language. Chinese in Penang are able to communicate in 2 languages. 1 is Hokkien. The other is English. Though some are broken to pieces but they prefer to talk that than Bahasa Malaysia. Class maybe. But their command of BM is actually very good. I'm talking about the younger generation, maybe now in their 20's. But the older ones might be better off in English than Malay. This is my personal experience with the people that I mingle and has nothing to do with whatever studies that has been done on this subject. Hahahaha.. But for those in Air Itam and Paya Terubong area, their command of BM is sad. English, sad too. Though they'll be having English names but do not be surprise if Jason Wong or Cindy Chong cannot communicate in English. Hokkien and Mandarin is their tongue.

The Indians are better off in the language department in Penang. From what I see, the Indians are divided into 3 categories. The Hindu Indians, the Christian Indians and the Muslim Indians. Most Indians are able to use their BM well. Understandable. Indians generally are able to communicate in 3 lingo. BM, English and Tamil. The Christian Indians generally speak English very vell. The Muslim Indians speak BM vell too, some with the Indian harmony added to it.

The Malays has got 2 factions in Penang. Mamak Malays and Malays Malay. I'm getting confused myself. They have quite a number of Boyan Malays too. To my understanding, its no fault of anybody, the Mamaks are a mixture of Malay and Indian. Thats how the features come about. The fairer skinned Mamak uses Malay language as their communication tool whereas the dark skinned Mamak uses Tamil as their mother tongue. The Malays will of course use only Malay language added with a little bit of English here and there. A lot of younger generation Malays are bad in English. Atrocious. The elderly Malays due to the type of schooling those days command English very well.

Could this be the reason why we can't mingle?

The other culprit could be the inability to tolerate different faith which I do not want to touch at this point of time.

Use to see a group of friends made up of all races, in the late 90's. Indians, Punjabi, Chinese and Malay make up this group. They are so attached that eventually consider themselves as brothers and sisters. The eldest in the group is called Abang Long (Chinese), next in line Abang Ngah(Malay) and so forth

When Chinese New Year come a knocking, all of them will go in a group to celebrate together to the Chinese friends house. Deepavali, there are not enough chapatis to go around, the way they eat. Come Hari Raya, they go all out, main dish they request would be sambal belacan.

Thursday is a day when they get together at Leith Street. The bond was so close that if one does not turn up, the others will start calling until the absentee has got no choice but to come. Unless you're outstation or being put to CRIB (complete rest in bed) by the doctor, there is no excuse.

Well...the group has since RIP. Due to other commitments that the members has to go through and also due to some spouses intervention, who does not know the actual value of friendship and the fun they had when together.....Those get together really lets you bring out the Satan and the child in you and yet not getting ridiculed... Those were the days my friend, I thought would never end...

JUDGES BENCHED!

A dinner paid for by the government and hosted by the Bar Council, Malaysia, where judicial reforms were unveiled, was held without invitation to the Bench! ??? I am speechless ………

……..(to be continued tomorrow)

PENANGITES

Guys n gals,

Just installed a chat widget onto the blog. Feel free to chat whenever you see I'm available online. Maybe we can get to know each other better...hahaha...

I have also compiled the top singles for 1970 and 1971 onto a new playlist. Will be uploading it in a few days since the jazzy playlist has just been uploaded to the site. Enjoy that first.

Met a friend recently and he was talking about Penangites. What he said has got truth in it after I ponder for a while on my friends behavioral pattern.

1. Always want the best stuff but mind paying high for it.
2. Always want the best service but still want to pay less for it.
3. Go to a club with live music but despise paying RM50 for a jug.
4. No food is good to them unless they get it in Penang.

These are a few things that I remembered him telling me. Well, I guess thats Penang. But I can vouch for item 4, there is no food like Penang food. That is the reason why everywhere you go they start using Penang Char Koay Teow, Penang Laksa, Nasi Kandar Pulau Pinang and all that jazz. But please bear in mind, its not even close to the lousiest food you get in Penang.

There is this mamak selling Pasembor in Subang Jaya. He'll come in a small pickup and just park beside Mc D ( if I'm not mistaken) during lunch time and you see people queing up like buying tickets to a Harry Potter movie. Tried it once, nothing drastic about it, definitely the one in Penang is much much better. They called it Rojak.

The other thing that KLites know about Penang is the Nasi Kandar lah...The name that pops out will be Line Clear. I guess Penangites don't eat there anymore nowadays coz we have a lot more choices to vet thru. And once a friend of mine introduce a Nasi Kandar shop on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, opposite the Tunes Hotel, and claiming it to be as good as Penang. Well, boleh tahan je lah...

VENTRILOQUIST

Am in Kuantan today due to some f**k ups of Nationwide Express. Well here I am at Starbucks, where coffee cost like hell. You pay more and yet you have to do everything yourself. Line up to order, get your own sugar and get a snail pace connection. Just passing the time after I purchase a cheap digital camera for one of my clients for badging purposes.

Anyway, YES, it is a step forward for the judiciary and also bulging their pockets a bit more with the ex-gratia payment. A decision 20 years ago could have been right at that point of time, it could have been for the benefit of certain people at that time. Wasn't that a collective agreement endorsed by the cabinet? Well looks like the cabinet we had those days are but deadwood unable to determine right from wrong.

I would also like to point out that these are also the same guys who have flourished Malaysia, who has change her to what it is today. Sad to say, it has lose it's grip on the third world countries , where Malaysia was considered the Messiah, in the last 4 years. Hahaha...Starbucks coffee has got into me now..Man..8 bucks for a mug...

I had this thought that what transpired last night over the dinner with the Malaysian Bar Council was more of a political punch. A punch though can't amount to knock out but definitely staggered the opponent a bit. Its a political move. Nothing to brag about on the part of our Gomen. It is more of a sympathy gain. I had to say this coz it takes him 4 bloody years and 5 states to realise that he had to do something about it.

The speech by the Regent of Kelantan was a really stupid move. He justs wants to be somebody. He wants to emulate Raja Nazrin, but he is way off. I do not want to put the blame solely on His Highness but more towards the guy who wrote the speech. The Regents great uncle is all behind this I guess. The Regent's dad did not do well in his studies I heard. Had to go through LCE a couple of times too...Hearsay...No proof. If its true, what do you expect? If you had seen the video clipping when he delivers the speech, you guys could see that he was just reading it out, most probably does not even understand what he was saying and just hoping that he get to pronounce everything correctly. There was no passion. So guys, cool it. It was more of a ventriloquist act and the regent is the one sitting on the lap.....

Nothing political about this posting, its just to say my piece as what I see....

Cheerio guys... SKOL..

HEALING

Our worst fear may yet come true! Yes, this Bangsa Malaysia dream, we just may not see it in our lifetime. Not with the current crop of irresponsible BN politicians, especially those from UMNO, who on the pretext of championing the Malay cause, abused the NEP in the name of “Ketuanan Melayu”. The strong message from the Rakyat on that fateful day in March has been received with even stronger rhetoric. Rubbing the salt in, they now got some royalty involved.

After the reassuring statements by Raja Nazrin, whom I believe has all the hallmarks of a wise ruler, the speech by the Regent of Kelantan was a super shocker! Here, we have a member of the Kelantan Royalty screaming about the erosion of Malay dominance? My worry is there are still many gullible souls out there. It is unfortunate but true that there are those with lower levels of literacy and education who would become victims of these irresponsible orators. Fiery speeches delivered with passion, can drive people into a frenzy, and that my friend, is playing with fire! Mob rule is frightening! It is a wonder that the PDRM does not deem these speeches as seditious. Can I now adduce that the PDRM supports “Ketuanan Melayu”? Over to you, Mr. IGP.

“Every dark cloud has a silver lining” they say. At least tonight, in my opinion, the healing begins. According to “The Strait Times” (Singapore), in a piece by Leslie Lopez, the Government of Malaysia and the Bar Council, Malaysia, shall play host to the surviving victims of the 1988 Judicial Crisis. Tun Salleh Abas, Datuk George Seah, Tan Sri Azmi Kamaruddin and Tan Sri Wan Hamzah have confirmed their attendance. Acting against the Cabinet’s wishes, it seems BADawi shall apologize to them and reportedly they shall also be some financial compensations as well! There’s a bonus too! Judicial Reforms shall also be unveiled tonight at the dinner.

There are still quite a number who feels mere apologies are insufficient. I shall not delve into any debate, as it is too lengthy. I am just happy that the first step has been taken and we can move forward. Correspondingly, Bangsa Malaysia is in its infancy. We got to be patient and not give up. It is up to us to take the first step. Remember what’s his name? The guy who began his journey with the first step.

DREAMmmmm.....

KTT said...

Doesn't look like your dream of Bangsa Malaysia will come true in our lifetime. Look at our Thai & Indonesian neighbours who so proudly speak ONE LANGUAGE (their names don't reflect their ancestry)! In Penang, you get many Chinese who are die-hards when it comes to speaking BM - what is there to be so proud about not being able to understand or
speak BM? Does learning the language make you any less Chinese? Hey, the Malays are sending their children to Chinese schools!! It is such a shame when we are part of this MELTING POT but we are not harvesting the benefits. On the other hand, we are guilty of saying (at one time or another)"orang kita" not like that one lah. My friend, many Malaysians are living under the proverbial tempurung although they claim to be new-age, in-the-know & ultra-modern. What happened to the simple values enforced by our fathers & their fathers when it comes to respecting other races & always taking their sensitivities into consideration. Only a shadow remains!
**I have dreams in "English" only....wonder when I will dream in Bahasa Malaysia!!**

Thats how KTT feels about it all. Well at least there are 3 of us here who shares the same dream and hoping for it to come true. As twotoner says the Malaysian dream needs some effort and time which I disagree, it should be a lot of effort and a lot of time spent to nurture all this values back into our daily lives. Just like the old days, just like the time of yesteryears, the retro years.
All those camaraderie are lost. The leaders kept it in their pants like what twotoner mentioned and just never took it out. They will touch on the subject when their audience are of mixed ethnic. When they're with "their people" they will always say "orang kita".

These has got to stop. Where in heavens name are we able to find these type of leaders now? The first guy to championed this was the guy who created UMNO. Hisham's granddad. But when he wants to open the party to all, they throw him out. Dato' Onn was his name.

You people out there, the 60's era kids, let us for just a moment close our eyes and think of a friend during our school days, who is of a different race. Just think of all the beautiful/crazy moments that you guys went through...

Lets start our dream of Bangsa Malaysia by trying to find that guy and continue where you guys left... Its gonna be beautiful...I bet you... I've done it...

The Malaysian Dream

Thinking about this “Baju Kurung” thing and Bangsa Malaysia, I cannot help going back to my childhood. As I remembered, those days there really was this spirit of “muhibah” among the various communities.

Those were the early days of Merdeka. We mixed freely in school. There was much fun and camaraderie. The late great P. Ramlee’s movies were also well received by the urban Malaysian Chinese and Indians as well. Things were pretty good until some idiot politician decided to divide the races to preserve their stranglehold on the national coffers.

Anyway, it’s gonna take some effort and time to achieve this Malaysian dream. It would be a great help if we have responsible and matured politicians. Politicians who realized that we as MALAYSIANS have to compete with the world, not among ourselves! Wonder if that day will come.

So you see, how evil our political leaders are?

MALAYSIAN

Well, two toner is kinda angry from the way he describes his hatred for the hypocrites. Someone mentioned that we should go to East Malaysia to learn the way they practice Muhibbah living. Come to think of it, he/she does have a point there. There are so many ethnic races in East Malaysia and lots of language and political party there too.

Whatever it is, there is still a long way to go to achieve these status, coz from what I see we will only call ourselves Malaysian when we are overseas. Once we step foot outside Malaysia we are Malaysians but the minute we step on Malaysian soil you're Chinese, I'm Indian and he's a Malay.

Perception towards races has to change. The terms that describe Malays as suka hutang, Cina main judi and Indian suka mabuk should be banned forever.

Look at Guan Eng in the Star today, he's wearing a turban when he visits Karpal during one of the ceremonies. Doesn't he remind us of how Tsu Koon use to parade himself around with turbans and whatever.....

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

So you did a write-up about Baju Kurung and some “hawker food” criticized you. Well, constructive criticisms help one to improve. Looks like you have turned the critic into an ally, good for you.

Anyway, I have got a thing or two to say about this mystery of non-Malays wearing a Baju Kurung. I call it a “mystery” because it does raise eyebrows and questions. I do not know why, but I suspect the culprit is hypocrisy! Let’s examine the attire in a typical Malaysian home. I cannot speak for others. I am a Malaysian of Chinese ancestry.

Most of my friends, like me, are usually dressed in slacks and shirts when at work. Very grudgingly, on formal occasions, we would put on a suit. Not all, some people I know, non-Malays, Indians included, go to bed in a sarong! I do too! Malay ladies and children of the female sex in “cheongsam” is such a common sight in Malaysia. Even both UMNO and PAS have not seen fit to make that an issue! So, what’s with you xxxholes?

A question I pose to the Malaysians of Chinese ancestry; “How many traditional Chinese attire do you posses and how many times have you worn it? Me? I have never in my life owned or worn traditional Chinese attire. The only thing Chinese about me is probably the flat nose and the straight hair! But as they say, “the only thing straight about the Chinese is their hair”. Let’s face it, the majority of Malaysians are attired in western clothing more often than not. Accept the reality and do not be a BIGOT! Having said that, I confess, I do love Archie Bunker!

Come on people, after 50 years of BN oppression it is time to move forward. Be magnanimous; allow old wounds to heal and stop bitching about issues that cannot be undone, let alone trivial stuff like Baju Kurung. You want a democracy, you want to live free and in peace, why are you bothering non-Malays in Baju Kurung? RACIST CHAUVINISTIC PIGS!

BM

My post about the lady who wore Baju Kurung to work was criticised thru the short messaging system by Koay Teow Th'ng. Well, from now on KKT will be my eyes and ears in Penang. Love you KKT.

Lets talk about language. When we talk about Bangsa Malaysia, what is the language that we should be using to communicate? Since we are in Malaysia and Bahasa Malaysia is the national language, we should be using BM right? We are not going to refrain anybody from using their mother tounge but in order to have a common mode of communicado, BM is the key. Everyone who goes to school learns BM.

There are lots of Penangites who could not converse in BM. Why aa? Maybe they don't need to. Maybe they don't want to. Maybe they just couldn't be bothered. Well time to change...

I am not being pushy about this, these are things which I feel will make me realise a dream of having Bangsa Malaysia in Penang....

HI YA BRO/SIS

Agreed...We were carried away by the political wave for a moment but its just because the political scene now is kinda exciting I suppose. Every corner of Malaysia is still talking about it. Scene after scene and its getting much more interesting especially when Johor UMNO asks PM to come out with an exit plan to hand over the reign to its successor. Sounds very "SOPAN" but in other words its just like saying "Yo..dude, hand it over to Najib smoothly and get lost with dignity"

Hahahaha...Give face ma ..

Well, read in the paper recently about one Gerakan guy, sorry can't remember his name, who says that they have forgoten along the way, the actual struggle of the party. One of them is to achieve the Bangsa Malaysia status. Where everyone is treated equally and blah blah blah.. Politician talk lah....

Our mind has to be tuned first in order to realise this dream. This ethnic shit has been embedded into our minds since day 1.

A very close friend of mine who is a Chinese loves to wear Baju Kurung to work. The remarks she gets from fellow 'tenang lang' is quite amazing, e.g "You Chinese why wear Malay dress", "You masuk Melayu oledi aarr?", "Your husband don't mind you wear this?". She is in the counter service and just imagine lah all this remarks that she has to bear everyday. There are so many Chinese and Indian ladies who wears Baju Kurung to work in KL and I don't think they go through this.

This kind of thought, if not erased will dampen the Bangsa Malaysia dream. Lets try to accept this Baju Kurung thing first and we will discuss about other things next time.

Cheerio..Compiled some retro music playlist for your listening pleasure. Feel free to request whatever songs you guys want. The request slip is just below. Click on the comments and write.

Peace

From day one, all we have posted were politics related. This was not the original intention. I suppose it turned out this way because when we started, it was just after the 12th GE. The shocking, though much welcomed results, created so much uncertainties for the nation and disorientation for the politicians. There was excitement in the air and rumours of all sorts were circulated.

Well, it’s been a month now, and for most of us, life goes on pretty much the same. Perhaps we feel a little better, hoping that the desired changes that we went to the polls for shall materialize. One can only wait and see. So, for now, I shall leave politics to the politicians.

The US Marines and the Green Berets
The Vietcong taunted them till they’re dazed

Flower Power! Make Love Not War!
Get real, mate, who’s minding the store?
Peace! Make Babies Not Bombs!
No, you don't make ‘em in the dorm

While Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream
Ho Chi Minh congratulated his victorious team
Joplin, Hendrix and The Who
Santana, with " Soul Sacrifice" was there too

For three whole days and nights
Some coming from afar by flights
Four hundred thousand congregated
At Max Yaeger’s farm, “Woodstock” exploded!

Hippiedom has passed us by
Fashion then, was tie and dye
They were the non-conformists
Now, they're the leftoverhippies!

The Man Who Could Do No Wrong?

He once ruled a nation of multiple ethnicities
In a climate of fear lived the minorities
An “A” student of British indoctrination
He divided and ruled the nation

In time, he retired, leaving a trial of injustices
All brought about by this doctor’s malpractices
For it was he who promulgated "ketuanan melayu"
And the nationalists said "Boo!"

He retired with an anointed successor
Who turned out to be a curse for his predecessor
Now he’s back as a prosecutor
Instigating his ‘once-nemesis’ to be the executioner

Thus, is the story of the man who could do no wrong!?!
And happily ever after, will he live?

PACK LAH

Thank God...

PackLah has finally gathered up his courage to answer and even lash out a few jabs at Tun, Ku Li and DSAI.

Though its kinda late at this stage considering the GE12 was almost a month ago and lots of damage has already been done, but whatever it is he did say something that gives me a little twitch that he finally realise that he has got to fight back.

As a captain of the ship, he must understand that the ship depends on him to stay afloat and he must be able to carry that responsibility and be responsible if the ship hits an iceberg. It must be due to his bad navigation that the ship almost sunk. No blaming the navigator cos' he makes the final decision and must be able to repair the ship immediately and sail on. Waiting too long will just makes it much more difficult to drain out the water that has seeped in.

Whatever.....

UMNO'S sanity Questionable!

“When you do the same thing over and over again, hoping for a different result, it is called insanity.”

And when you do not learn from your mistakes, it’s called “thick”. Did not the PM concede that one of the reasons for the catastrophic fall of the BN was the religious card? Yet it is being played again! This time, the unconstitutional proposal to prosecute non-Muslims for khalwat as well. Looking to score political points? Looks more like an attempt to commit political suicide!

The BN seemed in total oblivion of the election results. They have played the racial card, the religious card (now at it again) and refused to heed Zaid Ibrahim’s proposal for an apology for the 1988 judicial crisis, much to their detriment.

Will they ever learn to be sensitive to the people than be on a power trip to wreck havoc on the public and the nation? The propagation of a fear culture is never a hallmark of good statesmanship! The more the BN continue using old threats, the more they will encounter disgust for their shallow attempts at retaining whatever is left of their power.

As the world watches, the BN’s decadent actions will only draw disdain and loss of respect from God fearing men and just-people worldwide. Indeed, you BN people are thick! Tebal! Faham? When are you going to wake up to the reality that you work for the King and country? That also includes us, the people too! Why do you deserve to be elected when you do not have the vision or the capacity to effectively serve the nation?

I will tell you what they deserve. They deserve the public furore they are going to get from the ill-thought khalwat issue. Looks like they do not know what to do, what issues to follow up. In short, they are clueless! This is the way they have been for a long time and we have been taken for a loonnng ride. The ride has almost come to a halt. Current developments in both Pakatan Rakyat and BN camps indicate that the end of the ride is imminent. GOD BLESS US ALL!

Important Message to Gomen Malaysia!

Could be one of Confucius sayings, maybe. Sound advice.

PAKATAN RAKYAT

With all the hu ha's of UMNO members and BN members calling for PackLah to resign, PKR's Youth Chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, asks PackLah not to go coz he feels that the opposition finds it much easier to topple the present Govt with PackLah heading it.

He is giving the BN Govt a four month grace period after April 15th to pack up and chow.

1. 15th April DSAI is eligible to hold a political post.
2. PKR's elected rep might resign and open an avenue for a by election which DSAI will participate.
3. Once elected DSAI will be Opposition Chief in Parliament.
4. Rumours have it that they already have 18Nos MP from UMNO waiting to hop. 12 more needed.
5. Once they reach 30Nos, vote of no confidence to the present leadership will be conducted.
6. The score now will be 110(BN) - 112(PR)
7. With that a new chapter will be written.

Well I guess 4 months is enough time for them to harvest.

One thing good that I see here is the race based political party is not relevant anymore. PKR and DAP is multi racial though you see more Malays in PKR and more Chinese and Indians in DAP. Guess that even things out. PAS is Islamic but multi racial too.

To me basically, the culture of UMNO and PKR are the same. They started it all from the same party. Hard to shrug off the culture just like that or worst come to worst its just a change of the guards. Lets see what turns out then..15th August is the day...Or maybe earlier?

CHEERS..

KU LI

Balai Rakyat Bukit Cekati Gua Musang is filled to the brim with UMNO members listening to Ku Li.
The Ministers that have tainted personal records are the ones that wants to maintain the present leadership says Ku Li.

The talk is in session right now 10.30am Friday and will be updated later....

BLOGGERS/RTM1

Datuk Shaberi Chik, Information Minister has allocated a 20 min programme for bloggers to be televised live on RTM1 beginning 20th April 2008. So I guess sooner or later there will be awards too given out to best writer, best design, best critics blah blah blah...

So to all you bloggers out there, this is the time for you to have your 20 minutes of fame...Don't forget Warta Perdana 20th April Sunday....

Do Your Worst, Azalina! We're Penangites, We'll Do Our Best!

Was it heaven-sent when newly appointed Minister of Tourism declared that the five states that fell to the opposition shall have their MoUs revoked? I suppose that means no more Federal support and involvement too. That, I take as a blessing! After all, her tenure in the Sports Ministry were tainted with numerous transgressions. The training facility in the UK and the Auditor General’s report that implicated her previous Ministry of improprieties are examples.

The economic powerhouses of the country are in opposition territories and she does not see fit to collaborate with them for the benefit of the country. Instead, she has chosen to “ex-communicate” these five states. This action is irresponsible and it reflects her patriotism. The irony here is, the Minister of Tourism suggesting that she is going to make it difficult for the tourism industry in these five states! Hrrmmph! Great start!

So now, it has become very clear, she is only Minister of Tourism for the BN governed states. We have nothing to do with her. This how the BN government functions? On the other hand, we do not have to worry about unnecessary depletion of resources by these unscrupulous bureaucrats.

Perhaps, the opposition states’ governments should have a federal level shadow cabinet to coordinate efforts between them to enhance their efficiency in the various sectors.

The School Bully

There were two articles I read in "Malaysia Today". One was the article about reporters being queried by the police, over statements made by the Penang Chief Minister about the ill effects of the NEP, and the other was the letter from Param Cumaraswamy to the Editor of "Malaysia Today". After reading them, I was both baffled and disturbed.

I am baffled because I have always thought (correct me, if I am wrong) that the police are independent and impartial. In the case quoted by Param, there were people who made police reports calling for Dr. Mahathir’s investigation, basing on evidence (sworn testimony that Dr. Mahathir interfered with ACA investigation) given in court, at the Anwar trial. To date, we have heard nothing about any such investigation. No reasons for the inaction and silence were offered to the public (I suppose they are not obliged to, but considering the high profile of the case, I thought they should act otherwise). They certainly acted different in the case of the Chief Minister of Penang. The reporters who covered his speech were hauled up for statements, apparently attempting to build a case against the Chief Minister. Now, there is talk of interrogating the Chief Minister himself! Is this how it works? ISA for one, OSA for the other!

When I read about stuff like that, somehow in my mind, memories of more police misgivings, some through personal experiences, comes back and I begin to wonder if they know their job! It disturbs me that there were/are so many of these high profile cases that have gone unsolved or vanished! It also disturbs me when I begin to see a pattern in their actions. Clearly, double standards are the order of the day. Kris waving is condoned, Bersih/Hindraf rallies greeted with tear gas, water cannons and police brutality, UMNO led protest found them efficiently directing traffic and keeping order.

So I question their allegiance, is it to King and Country? When one starts questioning, it is inevitable that one begins thinking. After some serious thought, and this really disturbs me, I came to the conclusion that their allegiance is only to UMNO.

I allowed my imagination to go wild a bit and boy, it scared the daylights out of me. Imagine, you call this country home, a country administered by a lame duck PM, with an equally lame government, advised by some delinquents, fresh from their milk bottle, a questionable judiciary, an election commission that reports to the PM and a police force that is at best, mediocre. I think we are living very dangerously!

So except for the uniform, nothing has changed. It brings back memories of school days. You know, you come back to school from holidays. You find the same headmaster, some old faces missing, quite a bit of new senior teaching staff, and things looked fresh and promising. Then came the giant disappointment, the school bully is still there!

TDM

PENANG, March 30 (Bernama) -- Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says the Malays will be made use of by foreign powers if they choose Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.

Describing Anwar as a "a man of many parts", he said Anwar had a glib tongue and hence could draw the attention of people from different groups and backgrounds.

"When he talks about Islam, Muslims will think he's a champion of Islam. He's also good at talking to the kampung (village) folk and also to those at temples.

"We know the west believes that Anwar will become prime minister in the near future. They can then lead him by the nose," said Dr Mahathir during a question-and-answer session after he opened the annual general meeting of Persatuan Melayu Tanjong (Penang Malays Association) here Sunday.

Someone in the audience had asked him about western media reports that Anwar would soon become Malaysia's prime minister.

"If the Malays are willing to kowtow to the foreigners, then they can choose this person (Anwar). I am sorry... he had maligned me all over the world, accusing me of arresting him and throwing him in jail," Dr Mahathir said.

Later at a press conference, he said the nomination quota system for an Umno member to contest a top party post was maintained during his party presidency to ensure that only those who qualified contested and not for personal interest.

Under the system, the party constitution's provision which stipulates that a candidate must secure nominations from at least 60 divisions in order to contest the president's post, was introduced after Dr Mahathir was challenged by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah in 1987 and he (Dr Mahathir) retained the post with a majority of 43 votes.

Since then, the practice of not challenging the top party post has become a tradition.

Dr Mahathir said: "What was my interest then? I did not only win at that time but I had also won the top post uncontested many times.

"We did all that because if we didn't, some would do a Sulaiman Palestin, who had little support but contested the top post."

Dr Mahathir said when he was helming Umno, getting nominations from 60 divisions was not a problem.

He said this was proven when Anwar challenged Tun Ghafar Baba for the deputy president's post, whereby Anwar got many nominations... more than 30 percent as at that time there was no "control".

On this point, Dr Mahathir was responding to newspaper reports quoting Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as saying that he as a member of the party's Constitution Committee had brought before Dr Mahathir a grassroots proposal for lifting the 30 percent requirement.

However, Dr Mahathir had asked him to leave it as it was and this, said Muhyiddin, was mainly due to the fact that Dr Mahathir was the president and that the ruling would undermine any challenge to his presidency.

Dr Mahathir explained that the quota system was maintained at that time to ensure that party elections were treated as a serious matter, therefore the candidates must be serious or qualified enough to contest to avoid wasting time as the election process took a lot of time.

Barisan Rakyat - A Fantasy?

It has been three weeks since we had our elections. The euphoria is subsiding and the pangs of reality are surfacing now. The antics of the politicians, whether opposition or otherwise, would have surely created some serious review of their own action by some of the electorate. Are the politicians to be trusted?

First, we have those from the ruling elite making statements with veiled messages inciting tension, creating fear and anxiety. Then we see the new kids in town scrambling for power. Resigning and then retracting their resignations, squabbling about the make up of the various State Exco, the racial mix…., oh! oh! racial mix? WHAT HAPPENED TO BANGSA MALAYSIA??????????? Have we been duped?

Not at all comforting won’t you agree? I have always believed that only politicians have the inborn talent to look you in the eye and lie! Now I know I am right! Just look at what Samy did? Remember the infamous Labour Day cabinet meeting which led to the dismissal of our then Lord President? The irony is that they seem to get away with it all the time.

Another ongoing exercise is the party hopping thing, which has created an interesting debate. It is like a giant merry go round. Anwar is trying to buy some BN MPs over, trying ever so hard to become the PM, while we have ADUN/s threatening to resign, citing racial composition in state Exco. Look, it is all about them coming into power, we are just not in the picture!

Reminds me of a Cantonese proverb “when the wake is over, you have no need for the monk anymore”
